Odissi is a classical dance style from Eastern India. Tracing its origins to second century BC, Odissi combines dance and theatre. This beginning-level class focuses on the grammar and vocabulary of the dance through yoga stretches, exercises, footwork, eye-chin-neck coordination, hand gestures (mudras), foot positions, and walks/gaits. The dance style works with the total body, including facial expressions and pranayama (yoga).
