MADE IN SEATTLE: KIM LUSK
A Dance for Dark Horses

Premiere MAR 9-11, 2018
Velocity Founders Theater 1621 12th Ave

“Glorious, rollicking, superb dance art.”–Paul Swanson

The first evening-length work by this fast-rising choreographer, A Dance for Dark Horses is packed with Lusk’s signature “gut-busting parody,” dry humor, and physical virtuosity. With an original score inspired by 90s pop beats, Lusk promises to tell stories about failure, success, and the power of group magic.

MADE IN SEATTLE: MARK HAIM
Untitled New Work

Premiere JUN 22-24, 2018
Velocity Founders Theater 1621 12th Ave

“A conceptual work realized with quiet passion.”The New York Times

Mark Haim has created work for some of the world’s most celebrated dance companies including the companies of William Forsythe, Jose Limon, and Jiri Kylian. His last work This Land is Your Land premiered in Seattle before touring to Paris, the American Dance Festival, and the prestigious American Dance Platform at New York’s Joyce Theater. His new solo opus connects 400+ individuals across nearly 100 years and 15 countries—Haim is gathering 400 “movement prayers” from individuals he’s met and worked with throughout his exceptional international career. Performing this chain of movements from “oldest to youngest” (ages 90-4), Haim’s performance ritual (and its companion film) will celebrate the fleeting interconnectedness of us all. More info coming soon!
