Driven by our goal to cultivate and nurture artistically motivated social engagement, we at STANCE are aware of the treasures often found in reaching outside ourselves. Artistry does not thrive in isolation, and neither does discussion. Our age of technology puts a wealth of perspectives at our literal fingertips, providing a multitude of sparks to prompt or continue discussions and engagement. Conversation, Information, and Inspiration are scattered across the web: here are a few spaces that the STANCE team found intriguing this week. What do these voices spark for you? What online gems have you been finding?
The Breaking Glass Project was founded in 2013 to provide a comprehensive multi-part platform for young emerging female choreographers between the ages of 18-30 of all dance genres. The project is based on the concept of nurturing, supporting and cultivating the next generation of female artists and providing something more supportive than a single performance opportunity.
Creative Time is guided by three core values: art matters, artists’ voices are important in shaping society, and public spaces are places for creative and free expression. Over the past four decades, Creative Time has commissioned and presented ambitious public art projects with thousands of artists throughout New York City, across the country, around the world—and now even in outer space. They are committed to presenting important art for our times and engaging broad audiences that transcend geographic, racial, and socioeconomic barriers.
