May 23 + 25 classes cancelled

Russian Community Center of Seattle

Some of the best ways to access our creativity is through play, imagination, and attunement, all things that have felt very hard to connect with in the last two years. In this class, let’s explore how our bodies feel right now. We will keep moving through a guided flow based warm-up. We will work on stabilizing the muscles of the pelvis, concepts of spinal articulation, elements of Ashtanga Yoga, and a combo at the end, all set to pop music.

Jody Kuehner

Eighteen years ago I landed in Seattle where I fell in love with its rowdy, postmodern dance culture. I devoured everything experimental, improvisational, and durational. I fell in love with my own queerness. My previous works confronted the celebration of patriarchy. My newest projects make space for matriarchal power through its themes, process, and presentation. I am a 2020 NEFA’s National Dance Project finalist, 2017 Artist Trust Fellowship recipient, 2017 Henry Art Gallery AIR, 2016 NEFA’s National Dance Project awardee, and 2015 Stranger Genius Award winner. My work has been featured in ARTnews, i-D Magazine, and NBC 12 must-see LGBTQ+ art shows around the world.
