This year Velocity is all about big moves and bold ideas.

Inspired by the British slang for “busting a move on the dance floor” we picked the theme “THROWING SHAPES” because it feels impassioned, collective, confident, authentic, vulnerable, invincible, wild, and risky.

It describes what is happening in Seattle dance. We see artists in our community claiming space for their work and perspectives in our city, and we see Velocity and other organizations doing all they can to sustain this communal dance party. “THROWING SHAPES” is about acknowledging our community’s momentum, and keeping it going. Join us as we take up space, and advocate for a big, bold, collective future.
