Fall 2024 Season

ANNOUNCING VELOCITY’S FALL 2024 SEASON – TWO PROJECTS THAT CENTER THE FORCE OF A CREATIVELY EMPOWERED COMMUNITY

Nothing can stand in the way of creative community. At Velocity, we believe in art that amplifies and challenges, reassesses and reinvents. Our two projects this fall mirror this sentiment in their intentions, and walk us towards meaning-making in a world that has often left meaning behind.

First up is MOUTHWATER: A DISABLED DANCE FESTIVAL, three weeks of workshops, parties, and performances organized by a collective of Disabled creatives, including Seattle art stars Saira Barbaric and Mx. Pucks a’Plenty. Afterwards we turn to NEXT FEST NW: TOTAL CHAOS, Velocity’s experimental new works festival, celebrating contemporary dance and movement-based artists innovating in our region. We can’t wait to witness these artists and their incisively fearless perspectives.

This fall, join us in reveling in our humanity as we investigate, instigate, and gyrate our way to a more delicious future.

MOUTHWATER FESTIVAL

Three Weeks of Events, Performances + Workshops Highlighting Disabled Movement Genius…

SEP 23 – OCT13

Mouthwater Festival is three weeks of Disabled movement genius coming to Seattle. Disabled artists from all over the country will gather in town to share their work, develop their practice, foster cross-disability solidarity and grow their creativity. Mouthwater Festival is the beginning of an arts hub by and centering Black and Indigenous Disabled artists to present, collaborate and get uplifted for their crafts. The festival’s values are anti-capitalist, anti-fascist, pro-Black, Disability Justice-informed, Afrofuturist, sex-educated and practical. The creatives and workers behind Mouthwater dream of making more spaces for Disabled artistry to thrive. The Mouthwater Festival will begin with artist incubating spaces like workshops, socials and photoshoots in late September 2024 then offer sliding scale performance-centered events during the first two weeks of October 2024.
Our access team is here for the audience and the artists so please reach out to cripdancedoula@gmail.com with any questions.

TICKET PRICING

Velocity is offering subscriptions to our Fall 2024 season of two festivals, as well as individual tickets to all performances and events. All of our tickets are sold at tiered pricing described below. We invite you to self-select the tier that best fits your situation and needs.

This structure is inspired by Alexis J. Cunningfolk’s green bottle pricing structure. Click here to learn more.

Subscriptions to Velocity’s Fall 2024 Season are available thru October!

CHAMPION | $50

Subscription: $130

This tier represents the true cost of a ticket to our performances. This tier is for if you are secure in your finances, own your home and car, and can generally purchase your “wants” while regularly meeting all of your basic needs. By selecting this price, you are investing in our community, and affirming the value of live performance and dance.

SUPPORTER | $30

Subscription: $80

This tier is our “general” ticket price, and it is partially subsidized to increase access to our performances. Choose this level if you have access to steady income and generally have some expendable income after meeting your basic needs. This price sustains our work.

ARTIST

Subscription: $40

This is a subscription-only tier. Velocity centers the needs of movement-based artists in Seattle, and this subscription represents our commitment to affordable access to our performances for artists. This subscription is a way for artists to commit to the practice of seeing work, and a way for artists to support Velocity.

LOW INCOME | $20

Subscription: $30

This tier is our most accessible ticket price, especially when purchased as a subscription. Choose this level if you often struggle to meet your basic needs, are under or unemployed, and have low- to no savings. For people for whom this price is even too high, we do have a volunteer program to see performances at no cost in exchange for your help.

TICKETING POLICIES

Artists, programs, casts, dates and prices are subject to change. There are no refunds. Please contact operations@velocitydancecenter.com for all ticket-related questions.

TICKET EXCHANGES

Ticket exchanges may be processed at no charge for a different date of the same production, or in some cases to a different production. Select events or promotions may not be eligible for exchange. To exchange tickets, please contact the Box Office at least 24 hours before the original performance date. Please note that all exchanges are subject to availability.

LATE SEATING

Velocity’s late seating policy varies per performance, depending on whether the venue and choreography allows for audience members to safely move through the house once the performance has begun.

WAITING LIST

In the event of a sold out performance, a waitlist will be available starting when the box office for that performance opens – usually an hour before the show is scheduled to begin. Any tickets that have not been claimed at the box office will be released to the waitlist at the start time of the show. At that time, all pre-purchased tickets will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist and will not be guaranteed a seat.

CANCELLATIONS

If Velocity cancels a performance, we will provide ticket-holders with the option to refund or exchange your tickets.
