CREATIVE RESIDENCIES 2022

Velocity invites Seattle-based movement artists and choreographers at any stage in their career to apply for the 2022 Creative Residency Program.

Velocity’s Creative Residency program supports Seattle based movement artists and choreographers at any stage in their career as they develop work and engage in research. 8 artists will be selected to receive $500 grants to put towards space use and project development. Artists also receive mentorship and support with project related activities from Velocity staff.  Residency outcomes may include performances, artist talks and research sharings. These outcomes are not required.  The intention of this residency support is to nurture the creative process and provide financial support for space access for the selected artists. 

Selected artists will receive:
  • $500 grant to put towards space use and project development.
  • Mentorship and support with project-related activities from Velocity staff.
  • Optional: Residency outcomes may include performances, artist talks, and research sharings.
About the Application + Panel Process

This application will close on January 7, 2022 at 11:59 PM, and we are not able to accept late applications. All applicants will be notified by January 21, 2022.

All received applications will be reviewed by Velocity Interim Artistic Director Fox Whitney and Velocity Interim Artistic + Managing Director Erin Johnson. They will review each application and select proposals based on the applicants responses to the questions below.

The highest scoring applications will be advanced to a discussion stage, where the panel will curate three projects to select for this year’s cohort. Velocity Co-Artistic Directors will be available to provide feedback on unsuccessful applications.
