GUEST ARTIST SERIES
Presenting Works by Established Local and visiting artists
Velocity’s Guest Artist Series is a presentation platform that connects Seattle community with national/internationally established dance artists.
In contrast to our incubator programs which help to make and share new works, Guest Artist Series is a program that focuses on the presentation of dance projects, often by artists that we’ve worked to develop relationships with over an extended period of time. The goal of these presentations is to connect Seattle-based audiences with experimental dance projects from across the country, while also bridging peer-to-peer relationships between local and visiting artists.
In the Guest Artist Series, Velocity may engage with an artist in a traditional presenting financial model or in a collaborative fundraising model. This fundraising can include, but is not limited to, donor cultivation, and local grant applications.

HOW IS THIS PROGRAM CURATED?
Guest Artist Series is curated by the Velocity curatorial team on a rolling basis based on expressed interest, and long standing relationship. Velocity generally presents between 1-3 visiting artists’ work in Seattle each year as a part of our season.
If you would like to be considered for this program, please reach out to our Creative Producer, Shane Donohue, shane@velocitydancecenter.org to schedule a meeting.
What kind of work does this program support?
This flexible program supports local, national, or international artists who are interested in:
- The presentation of an Existing Work
- The presentation of a work in development that will premiere before it reaches Seattle
Artists could be local, national or internationally based, though our ability to tour international work is very limited.
