ABOUT THE REGIONALLY ESTABLISHED CREATIVE INCUBATOR
Velocity’s Regionally Established Creative Incubator, Co-Productions, are for Seattle-based artists who want to collaborate with Velocity to share the development, production and presentation of a new full-length work. These artists have experience self-producing their own full-length work, and usually set specific goals for this program that help them grow their long-term artistic mission, vision, and audience, while increasing their work’s technical scale, budget, and impact.

ALICE GOSTI
Alice Gosti (she/her) is an Italian-American immigrant choreographer, performance artist, and architect of experiences, working between Europe and Duwamish and Coast Salish land (Seattle) since 2008. She received a BA from the University of Washington and is currently completing her MFA. Alice is a GYROTONIC instructor. Her interdisciplinary work merges performance art, site-responsive installation, durational performance, embodied research, wearable art, and community-centered engagement to explore how history, politics, and place enter and shape the body. Alice often works under the name MALACARNE, an all-womxn and nonbinary-led performance ensemble dedicated to co-authoring transformative works that challenge reductive ideas around identity, power, and belonging.
Her work has been commissioned and presented nationally at institutions including On the Boards, Seattle Art Museum, Intiman Theatre, Velocity Dance Center, ODC Theater (San Francisco), the Joyce Theatre (New York), and the Dance Complex (Boston), as well as internationally throughout Italy. Her practice has been supported by major awards and residencies including the Princess Grace Choreography Honoraria Award (2021), the Vilcek Foundation’s Creative Promise in Dance Award (2013), a National Dance Project Grant from NEFA (2016), the Artist Trust Fellowship (2017), the ImPulsTanz danceWEB scholarship (2012), the Italian Council (2018), and residencies with Amazon (2022), the McColl Center (2018), and Jacob’s Pillow (2019).
As a movement director, she has worked on plays that have premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland, OR), Folger Theatre (Washington D.C), Seattle Shakespeare Company (Seattle, WA), Seattle University (Seattle, WA), Portland Center Stage (Portland, OR), Merrimack Repertory Theatre (Lowell, MA), and Actors Theatre of Louisville (Louisville, KY), among others. Her unique contributions to theater have received widespread praise, and she has been nominated for the Gregory Awards (2017) and the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Choreography in a Play (2020).
