MADE IN SEATTLE 2027 ARTIST

LOOK/OUT | MAY 6 – 8 + MAY 13 – 15

ARTIST BIO

Fox Whitney is a Seattle-based artist building transfuturist worlds where dance, installation, original music, film, and visual art melt together into something gloriously queer, trans, and psychedelically surreal. A self-described “good troublemaker” and connoisseur of transformation, Fox treats identity like a cosmic lava lamp—always shifting, glowing, and making new shapes.

Rooted in his mixed Black queer and transgender perspective, Fox’s artistic practice has been shaped by more than a decade of publicly transitioning while working as a dancer, musician, actor, filmmaker, visual artist, and drag king. He founded Gender Tender in 2012, an experimental performance project known for sly, surreal, and genre-bending collaborations, and is the creator of MELTED RIOT, an ongoing performance cosmos investigating queer resistance, trans time, and embodied transformation through performance, writing and visual art.

Fox currently directs, writes and choreographs LOOK/OUT, a living exhibition of psychedelic performance premiering at Velocity Dance Center in April 2027. He is also the installation artist and sound designer for LOOK/OUT. Fox fronts the transfuturist post-punk band Light Aloud, whose debut EP is in development with Spire Studios in Portland. His work has been presented by the Henry Art Gallery, On the Boards, Northwest Film Forum, Risk/Reward Festival, Washington Ensemble Theater, and Velocity Dance Center.
