Velocity encourages dancers of all levels to reach their maximum potential. Instructors are highly experienced in their art and generous with their knowledge and encouragement. Instruction is geared toward motivating the individual student and encouraging personal exploration of movement. All classes at Velocity have a strong technical base but are eclectic in their style of movement expression. Drop-ins are welcome for all classes, unless otherwise noted.
All Velocity classes are run online via Zoom.
Browse the MindBody schedule, read class descriptions, and when you’re ready to sign up, click “BOOK.”
You will be prompted to Sign In or Create a MindBody Profile. From there, you will be able to purchase the individual class or pre-pay for class passes. You will receive a confirmation of your purchase via e-mail.
An hour before class, you will receive an e-mail from FitGrid, an automated third-arty service, with a link to the Zoom class.
You can register for a class up to 10-minutes before the scheduled start time.
If you have registered for a class in time and received your class link, you will still be able to enter the classroom even if you arrive after the class has already started. However, we recommend arriving at least 5 minutes early to connect with the teacher and resolve any possible technical difficulties.
Beginning January 1, 2020, Velocity will be launching new offerings for our class cards. Our new offerings are structured to save you more money the more you dance:
One class card = $18.
Four class cards = $60 ($15/class).
Eight class cards = $112 ($14/class).
“Intro to Dance” series = $100 for each six-week series (≈16.50/class).

INTRO TO DANCE SERIES

If you are brand new to dance, our 6-week Intro to Dance Series are a great way to get started. You’ll leave the class with essentials in dance vocabulary and movement basics, and a solid grasp of how to learn choreography. After 6 weeks, you’ll be ready for any Velocity Beginner class, and will be able to enter All-Levels classes with boosted confidence.

All of our classes and training have a strong technical base but are eclectic in their style of movement expression.
Our instructors are happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have about your fit in a particular class. The level guidelines below are simply a guideline! We suggest getting a Class Card to try out a variety of classes and save on our Intro to Dance series.
Classes & Training Levels @ Velocity
Intro to Dance Series: Designed for the true beginner with no prior dance experience
All Levels: Accessible to dancers of all levels.
Beginning: For students with little or no prior movement experience.
Slow Intermediate: For students with a grasp of basic movement and alignment concepts. An intermediary step between beginning and intermediate levels.
Intermediate: For students with a strong understanding of movement and alignment principles. Students should be physically and mentally ready for the challenge of more material, a faster-paced class, and elements of risk in movement.
Intermediate Advanced: Appropriate for both intermediate and advanced dancers.
Advanced: For students with a high level of proficiency and understanding of movement and alignment concepts, who are ready for a deeper development of their personal expression as dancers.
Advanced/Professional: Velocity was founded with the goal to offer daily professional level dance classes to the Seattle dance community. Sixteen years later, we still offer daily classes by locally and nationally recognized teachers.
Masterclasses: Masterclasses are typically single, 1.5-hour-long, one-off classes with a teaching artist into a specific technique or practice.
Workshops: Workshops are more intensive and involved than a masterclass. At workshops, instructors go in-depth into a technique or practice and have multiple sessions over a one to two-week period.
What do I wear?
There is no specific dress code or footwear—just wear comfortable clothes you can move in! Socks or bare feet should be fine for most of our classes.
