crush 21 is a dance. ohh godohfuckohshit. it’s that season again and this year instead of dead bumblebees on the sidewalk it’s dying wasps on the windowsills. swarms of ants on the bathroom shelves. they got into the cough drops & refuse to pay rent. i’m having the best summer i’ve had in years. i can’t kiss anyone for another six to twenty-four months. when death threats didn’t work you tried the opposite (when you write this we’ll kill you). finally i can read again (again) & of course i’m writing in your voice. don’t you dare don’t you DARE twist this against me oh god. meaning-making is not objective except when it is (you have to let us know) & of course you’ll take it however you please. please don’t ask me to tell the future or read your mind or use a comma i promise i’m doing everything i can

This tier is for if you are secure in your finances, own your home and car, and can generally purchase your “wants” while regularly meeting all of your basic needs. By selecting this price, you are investing in our community, and affirming the value of live performance and dance.

This tier is our general ticket price, and it is partially subsidized to increase access to our performances. Choose this level if you have access to steady income and generally have some expendable income after meeting your basic needs. This price sustains our work

This tier is our most accessible ticket price, especially when purchased as a subscription. Choose this level if you often struggle to meet your basic needs, are under or unemployed, and have low- to no savings. For people for whom this price is even too high, we do have a volunteer program to see performances at no cost in exchange for your help.

West Coast Performance Festival Partners is a list of like minded festivals across the West Coast of the US who are interested in promoting the sharing of performance work in their regions. This goal of the partnership is to provide a scaffolding for West Coast, experimental performance artists to broaden the scope of their work, build more sustainable careers in the arts, and make long lasting, regional connections. 12th Ave Arts is fully accessible for wheelchairs and walkers. The lobby and bathrooms are at street level, and seating is available without the need for an elevator or stairs. The venue is also equipped with an Assistive Listening Device.
kelly langeslay is a queer dancer and writer. they tell stories to and/or about you. their recent research investigates queer futurity and ghosts through the writing of José Muñoz, CGI Barbie movies, early 2010s pop music, and conversations with friends and AIs. much of this research is made possible through the space and resources provided by the public library, to whom they owe $313.49. they are motivated by a love of excess, nostalgia for a nonexistent past, and insatiable hunger for approval. they have something to say about camp sincerity and overlaying their queer body on nostalgic figures and reinhabiting the past to imagine alternative ways of being; of course, this is mostly nonsense. they aspire to create a pathetic kind of art through a pathetic way of living. they make their best work when you’re not texting them back.
