Bridge Project is Velocity’s Emerging Creative Incubator, a multigenerational, intensive process aimed at connecting artists to each other and audiences to dance artists. This year’s Bridge Project features the work of Miguel Almaria, Olivia Anderson, Jessica Jobaris after an intensive 5-week rehearsal process at 12th Ave Arts. As an audience member, you will be invited to engage in a written feedback process that provides the choreographers with valuable information to help with their artist development.
A candy-colored world of impulse and freewheeling femme chaos, The Bonnies grapple with the morally complex territory of fantasy, violence, and vulnerability of desire, cloaked as a ditzy comedy routine.
RoCoCoCoCo illuminates the effort of bodies moving together through four nights of distinct dances, culminating in two evenings of the complete work. Scaling intimacy and expanding perception, it is a situation for dancing in simplicity, complexity, and profound glory.
The work is created for six dancers rooted in the Pacific Northwest—Allie Hankins, Carlin Kramer, Amanda Morgan, Symone Sanz, Julia Sloane, and Sylvia Schatz-Allison—each attuned to the pursuit of acute sensation. Conceived with and for them, the piece is a shared inquiry into how movement can be at once tender, insistent, and essential.
Chameleon, a multidisciplinary contemporary dance experience by artist Bennyroyce Royon, offers a profound exploration of reinvention, boundless creativity, and queer joy. This powerful work delves deep into personal lived experiences, confronting past traumas and celebrating the discovery of supportive communities. Through visceral, dynamic movement, innovative visual design, and compelling theatrical elements, Chameleon guides audiences on a transformative journey. It illuminates the resilience of the human spirit and the empowering process of shaping an unapologetic future—one that is authentic, vibrant, and filled with hope. The performance serves as a powerful testament to personal evolution and the beauty of self-acceptance.
BRKFST will create a site-specific work at Olympic Sculpture Park exploring decay and rebirth. Collaboration, partnering, isolation and duration, will be explored through the movement and values of breaking.
These performances are a culmination of two to three weeks of intensive training and rehearsal for dancers across many backgrounds and skill levels during SFD+I (Seattle Festival of Dance + Improvisation). Sharing the stage are advanced students from across the US in the Professional Cohort, and adult dancers in the Beginner and Intermediate Cohorts.
Ishmael and Keith first collaborated in the 90s and have continued for 25 years. When they dance together, the conversation and research continues. Sometimes we fight, but there is always love.
Research in Performance is a festival-style performance that provides a glimpse into the current explorative work of celebrated faculty from Seattle Festival of Dance + Improvisation 2026. Each work will be presented in a low tech, low stakes format with the goal of sharing performative research with SFD+I’s participants and Seattle’s contemporary performance community. This year faculty artists, Kayla Hamilton (NYC), Moriah Evans (NYC), and Corrie Befort (WA) will share their research is as a shared bill.
Back for its second year in a row OUT THERE 2026 will present an all new lineup of West Coast performance-makers who boldly go where no (dance?) has gone before!
